POSITION:  Operations General Assistant- Part Time- Seasonal, Battery Park City on Ice

 

GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations, maintains all equipment and implements day-to-day procedures to safeguard the facility, its employees and customers.  General responsibilities include supervision of day to day operations and performing various administrative and maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Executes policies and procedures professionally and accurately.
• Communicates professionally all information verbally and in writing to coworkers and supervisors.
• Maintains a clean, safe facility for patrons.
• Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by Director of Operations.
• Responsible for completing daily and weekly reports and forms for the ice plant, ice maintenance, and facility maintenance.
• Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance of ice resurfacer and edger.  This includes:
  
  - Lubrication of machines as per manufacturers’ specifications.
  - Safe operating techniques as specified by STAR for blade changes, driving, resurfacing, handling, and inspection of machines.
  - Knowledgeable in gauging ice depth, flooding technique, use of wash water, and initiating maintenance.
  - Performs janitorial duties and other related or similar duty as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a High School graduate or equivalent
• Must be bright and energetic
• Have the ability to work independently and in a timely fashion
• Must be willing to learn and abide by policies and procedures
• Must be certified as New York City Fireguard through the New York City Fire Department.

Salary: $7.25 - $8.50 per hour based on experience
